Visitors treat The Harbor like a destination. If you live here, you know it's a weekly appointment. Thursday belongs to the lake. Friday and Saturday belong to the square. The July calendar has three concerts left on the water, another two months of weekend sets downtown, and a dining lineup that looks different than it did in April. Here's how a Rockwall resident can chain all of it into a July and August that doesn't repeat itself.
The Thursday Ritual, Priced At Free
Concert by the Lake runs on the Brad Griggs Amphitheater stage at The Harbor, 2059 Summer Lee Drive, every Thursday from 7pm to 9pm through late July. Rockwall carries the title of "Free Live Music Capital of North Texas," and the concert series is the reason.
If you missed the opening month, three Thursdays remain in the summer block before the series breaks for August:

That's the pattern of the whole 2026 lineup. The season opened with the Rockwall Philharmonic Orchestra on May 7, followed by Memphis Soul, a Taylor Swift tribute called Red, Straight Tequila Night, Bad Moon Rising doing Creedence, Extended Play, Soulful Soundz, Texan Queen doing Selena, Nate Burnham, Walk This Way, Endless Summer, and the David Whiteman Band on July 30. Tribute acts dominate on purpose. The programming leans on the idea that people arrive early with picnics and want a soundtrack they can sing back at the stage.
Read This Before You Load The Car
The concert logistics reward people who know them. A quick unlock of the small stuff:
- Bring your own beverages. The event allows BYOB. Restaurants at The Harbor are steps away if you'd rather buy on site, and food can be brought in or delivered.
- Park in the garage, not the grass. There is no on-grass parking anywhere at The Harbor, and overflow parking is in the free garage in the TrendHR building at the top of Summer Lee Drive. If you need to park closer to the venue, aim to arrive by 6:30pm.
- Weather calls come at 6pm. A determination on weather-altered plans is made by 6pm on the evening of the concert, and Rockwall Parks posts updates on Facebook.
- Watch from the water. One of the things that separates this series from a landlocked amphitheater is that scores of boats fill the Rockwall Harbor for the sound of the summer concerts. If your boat is already at a slip, this is the easiest ticket in Texas.
None of that is on the poster. It's the difference between a resident's Thursday and a first-timer's Thursday.
The Weekend Counterpoint Downtown
The story most Harbor-goers miss is what happens two miles inland on the same weekend. The San Jacinto Plaza Music Series runs Friday and Saturday evenings from 7pm to 9:30pm, May through October, in the downtown square. Café-style tables, chairs, and seat walls fill the space, and guests are welcome to bring chairs, food, and beverages.
The contrast is the point. Thursday at The Harbor is a lawn-chair-and-cooler crowd oriented at a stage with a lake behind it. Friday and Saturday downtown is a walk-around evening between historic storefronts, dinner in the square, live music on a shorter runway. Same city, same weekend, different tempo. The residents who report the strongest summers here are the ones who stack a Thursday on the lake with a Saturday on the square.
What The Harbor's Dining Roster Looks Like After A Big Six Months
If your last honest visit to The Harbor area for a meal was in the fall, refresh your assumptions. The corridor picked up three new rooms in the first months of 2026 and has a fourth on deck for the year's end.
We The People Taproom. A new-format neighborhood taproom opened in Rockwall officially on March 5, 2026, positioned as a taproom inspired by the flavors, stories, and craftsmanship found during travels across America. The self-pour beer wall and casual food format make it a plausible pre-concert stop.
Shake Shack Rockwall. The Shack opened on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 568 E Interstate 30, in the former Taco Cabana space, and marks the brand's 30th Shack in Texas and its sixth drive-thru location in the state. Operating hours are 10am to 11pm Sunday through Thursday, and 10am to midnight on Friday and Saturday. The late Fri/Sat close matches the San Jacinto Plaza wrap time almost exactly.
Layne's Chicken Fingers. Layne's Chicken Fingers opened in Rockwall on April 18 at 1801 Goliad Street, with the first 100 dine-in guests receiving free chicken for a year.
Culpepper Cattle Co. Still an anchor for Harbor-adjacent steak nights and, per the operator's earlier communications, the site the UNCO team used to host an investor event for the next project on their roadmap.
HG Sply Co., coming Q4. This is the one to circle. HG Sply Co. is bringing its signature menu and rooftop dining experience to Rockwall in Q4 of 2026, at 2651 Sunset Ridge Drive, on land UNCO has owned since 2016, with the rooftop timed so the view of Lake Ray Hubbard would open up as surrounding development finished. The building is not small. The first floor is 6,800 square feet, with a 6,300 square foot rooftop and seating capacity of 400 plus. The rooftop will feature views of Lake Ray Hubbard and the Dallas skyline. There is no other room like that going up in Rockwall this year.
For an average summer weekend right now, the practical version of this is: dinner in one place, walk to another for a drink, then either the amphitheater lawn or the plaza depending on the night.
The Series Actually Doesn't End In July
Most residents assume Concert by the Lake wraps at the end of July and doesn't come back until next May. That's the version of the schedule on the summer poster. It's not the whole schedule.
The series returns in October with The King Lives, an Elvis tribute band, on October 8, the Buffett Beach Band on October 15, Def Legendd doing Def Leppard on October 22, and another performance by the Rockwall Philharmonic Orchestra on October 29. Four more Thursdays. Cooler air, same amphitheater, thinner crowds. If July feels like the resident is competing with the visitor for a good patch of grass, October is when the grass belongs to the resident.
The other quiet fact worth holding on to: Rockwall has hosted more than 200 different bands at Concert by the Lake through the years. The series isn't recycling the same twelve acts. The October block is programmed as its own season.
The Sunday Version
Between Thursdays, the Harbor calendar keeps filling in around the edges. A Father's Day BBQ Cruise ran out of the 2055 Summer Lee Drive dock on June 21. The Rubber Duck Regatta and Jeep Festival is set for October 10 at the amphitheater address. San Jacinto Plaza's downtown series continues through October, giving the weekend a live-music option on nights the amphitheater is dark.
The way to read all of this together: The Harbor isn't a summer season with a hard stop on July 31. It's a continuous calendar with two peak windows, a downtown counterpart running Friday and Saturday, and a dining lineup that's steadily reshaping what "dinner and a concert" means in this ZIP code. A resident who bought here five years ago has watched the roster of restaurants within a fifteen-minute walk of the amphitheater more than double. The one going up on Sunset Ridge in Q4 will likely reset the ceiling again.
Plan The Next Three Thursdays First
If you want a working template for the rest of July: park in the TrendHR garage by 6:30, pick up something to eat from a Harbor tenant or bring it, claim a patch of grass in front of the Brad Griggs stage, and let Walk This Way, Endless Summer, or the David Whiteman Band close out your July. Add a Saturday at San Jacinto Plaza if you want the downtown side of Rockwall's summer to log in the same week. Then hold October 8, 15, 22, and 29 on the calendar for the second act.
