According to The Rockwall Times, Heath Mayor Jeremiah McClure said this spring, "Our city has long been a place where global executives and professional athletes can enjoy privacy, strong community, and an exceptional quality of life," while welcoming a new private spirits club to town. It's the kind of line a mayor says at a ribbon cutting. But it points at something residents have actually been noticing recently: Heath's dining and social scene has changed, with new venues opening and some projects taking longer than first projected.
Start with the restaurant most people already know.
The Street That Used To Be The Answer
For years, if you wanted a sit-down dinner in Heath without leaving town, you went to Laurence Drive. Gianni's Italian Bistro, Manny's Tex-Mex, and Wings Over Heath sit within a few doors of each other there, a compact strip that's functioned as Heath's unofficial restaurant row since before most of the newer subdivisions were built out. It's a good cluster. It's also, until recently, been the whole story. Anything bigger, anything with a bar scene or an event calendar attached, meant a short drive into Rockwall proper, usually toward The Harbor or downtown's square.
That's the backdrop worth holding onto, because the two biggest recent additions to Heath's evening options didn't happen on Laurence Drive at all. They happened on two other roads entirely, and one of them didn't so much open as relocate.
Standard Service's Move to Heath
Standard Service opened in Rockwall toward the end of 2016 as a sister concept to HG Sply Co. in Dallas. It built a following there. In January 2025, the Rockwall location closed and Standard Service reopened at 4240 Ridge Road in Heath, on roughly two acres, with an outdoor space that's mostly play area: pickleball courts, cornhole, a twenty-foot outdoor screen, string-lit cabanas, a bar tucked next to the game courts. The new footprint let the kitchen add a full dinner menu and take-home family meals, neither of which the original Rockwall spot had room for.
That's a full relocation, not a satellite. And it's not a new idea, either. The City of Heath had been talking about a Standard Service-anchored dining venue at that Ridge Road corner since at least 2018, when city announcements described a "SouthRidge" development with a stage for live music, turf areas, fire pits, and a target opening of mid-summer 2019. The doors didn't actually open until January 2025, nearly six years past that first projected date. If you've lived in Heath long enough to remember hearing about this project once and then not again for years, that gap is why.
The lesson for anyone paying attention to what opens next in Heath: the announcement and the opening are two different events, sometimes separated by half a decade. Keep that in mind for what's coming next.
The Room With No Sign
In late June 2026, a private spirits and cigar club called The Algiers Club opened at 301 Hubbard Drive. It's the second location for a concept founded by Tucker McCormack in the Dallas Design District, and it works differently than a bar. Members bring their own bottles of spirits, wine, or beer. They can drink what they brought or leave it in the club's shared collection, where trained bartenders turn member-owned bottles into cocktails for the group. The Heath house includes a dedicated cigar lounge stocked in part with Time Out Cigars, a member-owned brand, plus space for coworking, private tastings, and masterclasses.
According to The Rockwall Times, Bill Bromley, a partner at the Heath location, said when the expansion was announced: "Heath is attracting an impressive community of founders, investors, and executives, and the demand for a high-caliber social setting is clear." That's a specific bet, not a general one, and the Heath location is residential-facing rather than on a commercial strip near the Harbor's existing foot traffic.
Same delay pattern as Standard Service, though, just compressed. The club's own site first listed an October 2025 opening, then updated to "Winter 2025," and the doors didn't actually open until closer to the following summer. A few practical notes if you're planning to check it out:
- The address is 301 Hubbard Drive, Heath, TX 75032, and membership is required to access the lounge and cigar room.
- Hubbard Drive itself is mid-construction. The city's fourth and final improvement phase, running from Michael Lane to Smirl/Bois d'Arc Road, is contracted to finish by the end of December 2026, so expect single-lane stretches depending on which segment crews are working.
- The concept is membership-funded rather than walk-up, which means its foot traffic runs on a different rhythm than a normal restaurant, mostly evenings and event nights rather than lunch or daytime hours.
The Restaurant That's Taking Its Time
The third piece of this is still pending, and it's worth knowing about precisely because it isn't open yet. In January 2025, the Heath City Council approved a ground lease for 1880 Kitchen, an upscale restaurant planned for The Reserve, a wooded 20-acre site along Hawk Drive and Chris Cuny Boulevard. The name refers to the year Heath was established. It's owned by Agon Dika, who also runs Giovanni's at The Harbor in Rockwall, and the plan calls for a 5,500-square-foot space with a patio that connects, via trail, to the renovated Towne Center Park.
The project remains planned, with no confirmed opening date as of this writing. The earlier timelines for Standard Service and The Algiers Club both changed, so prospective diners may want to check for updates before planning a visit.
What Three Addresses Add Up To
Put the three side by side and a pattern shows up that's easy to miss if you only hear about each one individually. Together, the three projects add to Heath's dining and social options, with two open and one planned. Ridge Road didn't have a signature restaurant before Standard Service moved there. Hubbard Drive didn't have a members' club. The Reserve, when it finally delivers 1880 Kitchen, will be the first destination restaurant on that side of town, connected by trail to a park most residents already walk.
These additions expand Heath's evening options alongside downtown Rockwall and The Harbor. For anyone who's lived here through the SouthRidge years of "coming soon" signs and empty lots, that's the actual news: Standard Service and The Algiers Club are open, while 1880 Kitchen remains planned with no confirmed opening date.
Heath's evening map is still being drawn, one relocated kitchen and one delayed ground lease at a time, and keeping track of which addresses are quietly becoming the new normal is part of knowing this county well. If you're weighing a move to Heath, Rockwall, or anywhere else along Lake Ray Hubbard and want a read on a specific street or neighborhood before you commit, The Agency Rockwall can walk you through what's actually happening on the ground, not just what's on the sign out front.
